About me…
👋 Hi! I’m an Astronomer working at the Institute for Cosmology and Gravitation, at the University of Portsmouth.
✨🌀 I study galaxy formation and cosmology, particularly bridging the worlds of observation and theory, developing and modelling the EAGLE simulations and its virtual data. Since then, I’ve been working on the upcoming COLIBRE project, a new generation of multiphase, cosmological simulations.
🔭🎶 I’m driven to investigate new ways to interact with the data that drives our world. In particular, I have worked extensively on “sonification” (the use of non-verbal sound to convey data), winning an UKRI Early Stage Research and Development Award, to lead a team developing and applying my strauss
code.
📢🦮 I’m also passionate about science communication and inclusivity. Projects like our multilingual Audio Universe: Tour of the Solar System planetarium show and its caribbean cultural adaptation bring astronomy to BVI audiences with sonification. Along with immersive technology and multisensory exhibits, we aim to reach and engage everyone.
🌊⚽ Outside research, find me playing football, going for a run, playing music with friends or bobbing around in the Solent…
